My first grade teacher
used a behaviorist perspective in her classroom. When I was younger I couldn’t still. I would get up and walk around the
classroom. I couldn’t help it. She didn’t like me walking around the classroom
so she gave me three orange cards.
Anytime I got up I had to give her one of the orange cards. If I used up all of the cards and had to go
to the bathroom to bad for me. I plan on
using behaviorist perspective just not the way she did. If I am going to punish my students it would be
because of something they could control, like not turning in their
homework or being tardy to class.
That's horrible how your teacher used that kind of behavor punishment on you since you could not control your actions. How would you handle a child with that problem and how would you punish your students the "right" way? These questions can determin what kind of teacher you will be and how you learned from a previous teacher.
ReplyDeleteI plan on teaching high school math. I would punish my students if they were tardyor if they were disrespectful to me or other students by giving them demerits. If they got so many demerits then there would be a bigger punishment like giving them a detention or send them to the principal's office.
DeleteI agree with you that it might have been to harsh of a punishment. maybe she could have come up with something where she could have given you a task to do out side of your seat. like passing something out, picking up papers that the kids are done working on. just so you could get out of your seat.
